Autonomous drug delivery system

Situation

Our client, a startup active in the medical field, needed a concept to embed their transdermal drug delivery technology in a portable device.

Approach

We came up with a two-part solution. The first part consisted of a small electronic reusable system, controlling the patch and communicating with the external world. The second part is the patch containing the drugs. Using new flexible electronics technologies, we were able to provide a solution where drug was kept is small containers that could be activated independently. The system allows full control over the delivery of the drug, from delivery at a specific time, to continuous delivery. To pass the barrier of the upper layer of the skin, a system of micro-needles in disruptive materials were developed, to be cheap to manufacture and safely biodegradable.

Our solution

Thanks to Akson, our client was able to embed his technologies and validate its industrialisation.
