NASA’s Ames Research Center

Today we visited NASA’s Ames Research Center, the center of competence in Aerosciences and Advanced computing and IT systems based in Mountain View California. The campus spread on a huge area next to Goggle’s HQ and hosts the world biggest wind tunnel facility to conduct aerodynamics studies on propeller-driven aircraft.

Below is a cray visualisation of the simulated flow field around the nose landing gear of a Boeing 777 generated by Pleiades, NASA’s supercomputer.

Thanks to Arno Rogg, R&D engineer and EPFL alumni for the amazing tour!
